![]() ![]() ![]() The introduction of Fisher road bikes in 2010 (possibly to fill the hole left when Trek shut down the LeMond brand) did raise some eyebrows, but Fisher did a good job of selling a different story (race-bike performance, comfort concessions in geometry, utilitarian features), and building in unique features - like elegant, removable fender attachments - so they weren't seen as just a rebadged Madones. ![]() Once 29ers began to gain traction for Fisher, Trek seemed to loosen the reins a bit and give the brand room to roam: Fisher had unique and funky bikes like the attractive Simple City town bikes, and steel cyclocross and singlespeed mountain bikes that Trek didn't. IBDs will also have access to other interesting 'cross, road, utility and urban bikes once made under the Gary Fisher brand name. ![]() For Trek dealers, it means access to Fisher's popular 29ers - until this announcement, the closest thing Trek had to a 29er was the 29er front, 26er rear 69er collection. In a surprise announcement, Trek Bicycle Corporation shuttered the Gary Fisher standalone brand and introduced a "Gary Fisher Collection" line of Trek-branded bikes, sold through Trek dealers. ![]()
